Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation In The Treatment Of Pais In Fibromyalgia: Bibliometric Analysis

OBJECTIVE: To identify the state of the art of production referring to tDCS in the treatment of pain in fibromyalgia.

METHODS: The purpose of this study is to support the definition of queries in a combination of tDCS (abbreviated or complete), pain (or chronic pain) and fibromyalgia. The descriptors were used in two databases of Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. Only articles in English were included and after using the Software R®

RESULTS: 43 articles were obtained. The annual production achieved better results in 2018, when it reached the mark of eight published articles (in 2019 the total was only 5). Among the countries that research and write the most on the subject, Brazil, USA, Egypt, New Zealand and Germany stand out, with participation in 34, 32, 9, 7 and 6 articles respectively. Other countries such as China, Italy, Norway, Belgium and Canada are also among the 14 countries that published the most in the surveyed period, however, the sum does not exceed ten articles. Brazil and the USA lead national and international partnerships. The other countries that presented themselves published only in international partnerships. As for research institutes, Harvard Medical School (USA) and Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) lead the ranking, with authors of 20 and 15 articles respectively. The publications took place in 34 different journals, among which the Journal of Pain, BMJ Open, Brain Stimulation, Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology, Neuromodulation, Pain and Scientific Reports were the most published.

CONCLUSIONS: The production of studies is still small and is limited to a few research centers.
